Christina Sanchez bio-regional herbalist, desert ecologist, and founder of Every Leaf Speaks has a special connection to the arid places. Raised in a rural town in Eastern Coachella Valley she grew up with plants such as Larrea tridentata. As an adult she left the desert for work in the big city only to return to the desert, she chose to settle in Joshua Tree and found herself drawn to Larrea, a plant her abuela (grandmother) worked with. She has been studying the flora of the southwest and the diverse desert ecosystems for years. In her community she offers herbal courses, ecology and plant ID hikes, plant surveys, herbal consultations, hosts a grassroots community clean-up of the wild desert spaces, and volunteers at Mojave Desert Land Trust and Friends of the Desert Mountains.
